Isnad
Your data, clearly explained

Privacy policy

What stays on your device, what happens when you stream recitation, and the choices you control.

iPhone & iPad · Version 1.0

Last updated: 14 October 2026. Applies to Isnad for iPhone and iPad, version 1.0.

The short version

Your reading data and location stay on your device. Isnad has no account, analytics, advertising or tracking SDK. The developer runs no server for app data. Recitation audio comes directly from a third-party service, which receives the requests described below.

The app uses the network for recitation audio, only when you ask for it. The Qurʾān, the translations, the hadith, the guides, the prayer times and the direction of the qibla are either inside the app already or worked out on your device.

Turn off Settings → Recitation → Stream recitation to stop audio requests. Opening an external source or license link uses your browser and the selected website’s policy.

Recitation audio — the one thing the app requests

Isnad bundles no audio. When you press play, each verse is fetched as you reach it from cdn.islamic.network — Islamic Network, the audio service behind alquran.cloud.

The release audio player uses only the Islamic Network CDN. External source links open the selected website; they are optional and do not replace the bundled source records.

Location — used on your device, never sent

Prayer times and the qibla depend on where you are. Isnad works both out on the device, from the position of the sun and the bearing to the Kaʿbah; no server is asked.

What is stored on your device, and only on your device

WhatWhereWhy
Your settings — translation, display mode, typeface, text sizes, theme, reciter, the streaming switchLocal preferencesSo the app opens the way you left it
Your bookmarksLocal saved dataSo they are there next time
Your reading positionLocal saved dataSo Continue reading works
Your recent searchesLocal saved dataSo the search field can offer them back
The place prayer times are worked out for, rounded, and how you want them calculatedLocal saved dataSo you set it once
Your tasbīḥ countLocal saved dataSo a count survives leaving the screen
Error reports you have written but not yet sentLocal draftSo a report survives the app being closed

None of it is readable by any other app, and none of it is backed up to any server operated by the developer, because there is no such server. It is included in your own iCloud or Finder device backup exactly like any other app's data, under your Apple account, governed by Apple's terms rather than anyone else's.

Deleting the app deletes all of it.

Report an error, and the share sheet

Isnad can be wrong, and it asks you to tell it so. The "Report an error" sheet composes a plain-text report — the passage, the locator, what you say is wrong, and optionally an email address if you want to be told what happened to it.

That report is not transmitted by the app. It is handed to your own iOS share sheet or copied to your clipboard, and you choose where it goes: your mail app, Messages, notes, nowhere. If you send it by mail, the developer receives it as ordinary email, sees whatever you chose to include, and uses it only to check and correct the passage.

The optional email field exists so a correction can be answered. Leave it blank and the report contains no reply address. If you send it by email, your mail service includes the sender information it normally uses.

The same is true of every other Share and Copy button in the app: what is shared is the text shown on screen, going where you send it.

Children

Isnad has no user-generated content, no messaging, no accounts, no purchases. Optional source and license links open external websites. Isnad is not marketed as a Kids Category app. The streaming and external-site disclosures above apply to users of all ages.

Changes

If a future version changes what leaves your device, this policy will be updated to explain the change.
